Support for When You Feel Distressed

CALL 911 if at immediate risk

If you are: feeling desperate and hopeless, worried you might hurt yourself, someone else or having suicidal thoughts, alone with no one to talk to.

If you have: made a plan, have the means to hurt yourself or someone else (e.g. pills or a weapon), attempted suicide or hurt yourself before.

Lakeridge Health Crisis Intervention Team

When a person enters a Lakeridge Health Emergency Department in need of mental health assistance, the Crisis Intervention Team is there to help. Check in with the Emergency Department Triage Nurse to access a member of the Crisis Intervention Team. Team members meet with individuals and his/her family or support team to discuss immediate concerns and review options.  In most cases, a person is discharged with a follow-up plan, while others may be admitted to the Inpatient Mental Health Program. We strive to offer effective coping strategies and follow-up and referral options, either within Lakeridge Health or in the community.
